Batch
Settlement
A group of authorized transactions submitted together for settlement, usually at the end of the merchant's processing day. Batches are typically submitted within 24 hours of authorization to avoid late-presentment chargebacks (Visa 12.1, Mastercard 4842).
In practice.
Batching is why settlement timing matters operationally: transactions captured after the daily cut-off slide into the next batch and land in your account a day later. High-volume merchants align their capture schedule with the cut-off of their acquirer to keep cash flow predictable.
