Settlement
Settlement
The transfer of funds between issuer and acquirer for a captured transaction. Once settled, the transaction is final unless a chargeback or refund reverses it. Settlement timeline (T+0, T+1, T+N) refers to the number of business days between transaction date and merchant funding.
In practice.
Settlement is the pipeline between a captured sale and money in your account, and its timing drives working capital. The agreed settlement delay, any reserve deductions and the funding currency are commercial terms worth negotiating, not fixed facts. Multi-currency merchants also watch conversion points in the settlement chain.
